1) WELCOME HEAD COACH MARGIE
As we are all aware, Margie Pedder has taken over as team head coach. Margie has a Master of Science in Sports Business Management and was a Member of the 20 Great Britain Olympic Team in Sydney of 2000. She is a former National Record Holder for the 200m Butterfly, a USC Swim Team Three-Time All-American, a Bronze Medalist in the 2002 Commonwealth Games and a British & US Nationals Champion.
2) CP MASTERS ‘TO DO’ LIST
a. Next Team Meeting
The next team meeting is scheduled for Saturday January 17 after practice. We will send out a meeting agenda before the meeting.

b. Website update
c. CP Masters Team Logo, caps and t-shirts.
Team shirts and Caps have been ordered and should arrive the end of January.

Team suits can now be ordered on our website. We are anticipating a three week lead time to receive you suit.

ONE HOUR SWIM:
The One Hour Postal swim will be sponsored by Team New York on Saturday and Sunday, January 24th and 25th. The registration information can be found at www.tnya.org. All entries MUST be received by Friday, January 16, 2009

OPEN WATER EVENT SCHEDULE
Manhattan Island Foundation Island Foundation has posted their 2009 open water schedule. It can be found at www.nycswim.org

Lance Olgen had a phenomenal Elderly swim this year. This was Lance's second ederly swim and finished the 17.5 mile event in a record time of 5 hours 20 minutes. Due to difficult tide conditions and extremely cold water temperature Lance was the only swimmer to finish. You can see pictures of Lance posted at: http://www.nycswim.org/UserBio.aspx?UserID=101373

John DaPrato also finished a dramatic 8.2 mile swim in Alaska this year. John wrote a wonderful account of his swim. John can help you identify other out of town swims if you are interested. Please read Johns story about his adventure. Read Story

BREASTSTOKE IN THE FREESTYLE EVENT
For those swimmers who would like to swim the Breaststroke in the Freestyle event, please be aware of the freestyle rule, that past 15 meters some part of the swimmers body must be above the water. Most breaststrokes have an undulating motion where they will be submerged during part of the cycle.

If you receive a DQ for this infraction, remember it is a freestyle event and you must comply with the Freestyle rules.
